Where do I go to find out when the site will be down?
We are experiencing growing pains. For a brand new site, this is a good thing, but it comes with the server crashing sometimes. We know this can be frustrating, but as we grow, we are moving into larger and multiple servers. Once we get settled, these issues will occur less often! We are working endlessly to keep the site up and active for you! Please email develop@findiit.org if you are experiencing a downtime. Most warning of the downtimes can be found on the DEVELOPER BLOG. How do I post a free ad on findiit?
You first need to decide the location you wish to post in. Then you will need to select a category, then a subcategory. We have double the sectios as most sites, for example, we have "Get Together" and "Find Friends", so in this case, you simply can post in each main section, but in "Get Together", you seek friends with a particular interest you share. You fill out the required content, "Title, Content, Email Address" and then you can add a few pictures to your posting. You carefully type in the captcha and then submit the ad. There is no charge for most all ads on the site.

How can we help you reduce spam on this site?
Do not reply to emails with links, do not click on the links and if the email does not sound like they even read your ad, and if they failed to mention something specific about the ad that you placed, then please delete those emails. If no one replied to them, they would not waste their tiem on this site! Sadly, users bring them to these sites by not ignoring them. We can block them, using their IPs and their emails, but there is only so many that we can keep up with on our side. You are the first line of defense.

How do I know when to flag?
Flag with care. Right now we have a low flag setting, because it has not yet been abused. If people begin to abuse this feature, we will indivdually block them from using our website, since when you flag an ad, we get your IP address. If you flag ads erroneously more than a couple times, you will be banned from flagging and from our site. Please flag ads which are mis-using our site, posting in the wrong categories, or mention someone's personal information, when you can tell that it is not their right to do so. Flag ads offering sex for money as well. Report these ads to the forum, so that I can see who posted them and block them from the site. DO NOT FLAG: an ad just because you do not share their opinion or point of view about something.

Where did the numbers next to the categories go?
Ideally, these were to let people know how many ads were in a category. The issue was that the pages were taking a really long time to load, the server had to go through and count the entire database, which was slowing the site down a lot. We have removed them. We will miss them too...but ya know...the site is running a lot faster and looks cleaner without them.

What if I don't see a category that fits the ad I want to post?
If you don't see the category please let us know about it. You can request your category on our forum.

I do not see my ad after I posted it!
After you post your classifieds ad you will receive a confirmation email. Sometimes, for new users, this actually may go into your spambox. You need to add the emai, noreply@findiit.org to your contacts, so future posts and future replies are not sent to your spambox.

Can I post an ad in multiple Cities?
No. That is spamming. Please post ads only within the City or Town that you live in, and in the sections that your ad is related to.

How long do ads run?
Your FREE ad will run for 30 days in most cases. Some are for only 15 days.

Can I edit my ad after I have posted it?
Yes. As long as you have saved the confirmation email, which we have sent to you, then you can edit your ad. You will see and edit link near the bottom of the email. Click on the edit link and you will see your ad and be able to make your desired changes. We do not have an account setting (to reduce spam) so you need to save these emails. We recommend saving them in a seperate folder in your email.

How can I delete my ad?

How does this site make money?
We charge for some sections. But only a few and you will likely never notice. We charge companies to post JOB ADS, we charge Erotic service providers and we charge a VERY small fee to post a review on a company of just one dollar, to keep reviews honest!! Temporarily, we have google adsense that covers our costs at the moment. They will be gone soon.

I can't upload images, what's wrong?
Yes. When uploading images with your ad they can be no more than 400px x 400px and 200kb in size. Make sure your images are in the following formats. gif, jpg, jpeg or png all other image types will not be uploaded. Currently, we allow you to upload 6 pictures with your ad.

Why PayPal for paid categories (Jobs, Erotic Services)?
We use PayPal currently because they have cheap fees for our site. We are on a shoestring budget and just could not cover the large fees associated with using a private terminal, as well as the cost to have a code developer come in hard-wire that into the site. We will, in time change to a private terminal, but for now it is PayPal. And you can pay without having a PayPal account, all you need is your credit card. When posting in these categories, you will need to pay at the time of posting the ad, or your ad will be deleted once you navigate from the page. And you will still need to activate the posting.

Where is my activation email? If you are using a free email account (like Hotmail and Yahoo), make sure you have not exceeded your mailbox storage limit, and check your bulk/junk/spam mail folder(s). Make sure you entered your email address correctly on the posting form - it only takes one typo! Some email providers and ISPs have implemented "spam filters" which we have found are often badly designed or misconfigured, sometimes resulting in craigslist emails being intercepted. Network problems between ISPs can delay email transmission, sometimes for many hours - consider stretching, getting some fresh air and checking back later. If all of these steps have failed, the consider using another email account provider. Yahoo has worked well with our website.

Why do you have so many categories?
I know. When I first looked at it...I had my doubts too. But the saying goes in the movie we all love, "If you build it, they will come." We strongly believe in this. We wanted to offer something much more deep rooted. I know having so many categories, cuts down on content in those sections, but really, without doing this, we are just another classifieds site. We want to offer things so specific that you can quickly find what you are looking for. I know that when you first look, it can be intimidating. But bare with us. If you post, others will follow.

Why was my ad deleted?
Your ad has either expired, was flagged, or you deleted the ad yourself. If you feel the ad was flagged when it should not have been, please post on the forum, with your NEW ad number (the one you replace the flagged ad with) and I will try to review the ad and remove flags that are added after you repost. I cannot always do this, but will as I afford the time.
